Before The Treatment

1. Am I a good candidate for this treatment?

The ideal candidate is anyone who has acne. For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

  • An Internal defibrillator/pacemaker or any other active electrical implant in the body
  • Any active conditions in the treatment area (e.g. rash)
  • History of skin disorders or very dry skin
  • Current or history of cancer (including pre-malignant moles)
  • Severe concurrent conditions (e.g. cardiac disorders)
  • Pregnant or nursing
  • An impaired immune system
  • A history of disease around the treatment area that’s stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Had a Botox or Filler within the last 2 weeks.
  • Had any resurfacing treatments or chemical peels within the past 1 month.
  • Consumed Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6 months of treatment.
  • Treating over tattoos or permanent makeup
  • Have history of light induced seizures.
  • History of keloid and hypertrophic scar formation.
  • Use of any photosensitive medication or herbs that may cause sensitivity to visible light exposure.
  • Connective tissue damage or immunosuppressive diseases, including AIDS and HIV infection or use of immunosuppressive medication.
2. I have darker skin – can I still get this treatment done?

Yes, the treatment is safe for all skin types including darker skin complexion.

3. How many sessions will I need to see the results?

The exact number of sessions vary from person to person and hence, your doctor will advise the total number of sessions required after examining your skin. On average an individual requires 6-8 sessions.

4. What is the interval between session?

Treatments are done 2 weeks apart.

5. Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup before your treatment session, and avoid tanning. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. If you have excessive hair on the treatment area, shave it beforehand. It also helps to be prepared with information about your medical history.

During The Treatment

1. How long does a treatment session last?

Venus Acne Therapy is a multi-step acne treatment. One treatment session takes approximately 20-40 minutes.

2. What does the treatment feel like?

your eyes will first be protected with metal glasses. Our doctor will begin treatment by applying the handpiece of the device on your skin. You will feel some suction as your skin is gently lifted towards the device, which opens the pores for the treatment.

 

Next, a very short burst of heat will be felt which the pulse is fired. There might be a light burning smell that is caused by facial hair and dead skin cells absorbing the light energy. During each session, the device is passed over the whole face with more focus on the area of concern.

3. Will it be painful?

Venus Acne Therapy treatment may be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful.

After The Treatment

1. How will I feel after the treatment?

There might be slight redness after the treatment which settles within a few hours.

2. How long will the results last and are they permanent?

Venus Acne Therapy will treat your current acne. Maintenance sessions will be required to prevent acne recurrence. Your doctor will guide about maintenance sessions in detail during the consultation.

3. Is there a downtime after the treatment?

Venus Acne Therapy has no downtime.

4. Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

Follow the post-care given by your doctor. Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area. Do not put lotion, makeup or anything else on your skin, for 24 hours. Also avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for first 2 days after the session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

5. Can I put makeup or lotion after the treatment?

No, you should wait for 24 hours after your treatment to apply any makeup or lotion.
